The Snowbird market now includes a new segment comprised of highly-paid and highly-skilled Remote Professional Workers (estimated over 150,000) who form part of Canada's total 5-million strong remote workforce. A specific segment of Canada's Remote Workforce are professionals who have 1) substantial incomes and 2) the ability and determination to work remotely during the winter from anywhere in the world they choose to - typically a hotspot such as the Caribbean, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Mexico, Panama or Belize, the southern US, east or west US coasts - even as far-flung as the Philippines and southeast Asia! Well-connected, secure and speedy internet access is usually a prerequisite as are a beach, English speaking communities, safe for tourists, good exchange rates and affordable essentials for a fun, healthy, remote resort lifestyle.
